A Beautiful Pool with State of the Art Inclusions
Donna and Steve Allery’s pool in Yeppoon is a perfect tropical treat, needs virtually no maintenance and contains minimal chemicals.
When Donna and Steve Allery of Yeppoon, Queensland, decided their three children, aged from eight to 13, were all capable swimmers the couple decided it was time to get a pool to make their tropical lifestyle complete.
“After speaking with other pool companies we chose a Compass pool from Composite Pool Solutions,” says Donna. “We wanted to keep the pool as easy-care as possible and the Compass self-cleaning system promised to keep it as easy as possible. It’s proved to be fantastic!”
In consultation with Jeff Geering of Composite Pool Solutions, Donna and Steve selected an 8.2m x 4.2m Vogue 8 composite fibreglass pool by Compass Australia in “Beach” with an Armourshield finish and lights installed down one side.
“Steve and Donna are friends of my son Trent and his wife Blanche,” says Jeff. “Initially Steve wanted a Harley and Donna wanted a pool. When he got the Harley, she finally got the pool and Trent, who’s a builder, installed it.”
There’s more to this fabulous looking pool, however, than meets the eye.
“Donna and Steve’s pool looks great,” says Jeff Geering, “and has lots of inclusions and state of the art equipment so it is virtually self-maintaining.”
As well as the Vantage in-floor self-cleaning system, the Allerys’ pool system also includes an energy-efficient pump, UV sanitation system and chlorine and PH sensing system.
“We import the Spectralight ultra violet steriliser from the US,” says Jeff. “It reduces the need for chemicals by 85% so the pool water is like fresh water. You could drink it! There’s only just enough chlorine in the pool to maintain a residual steriliser so there’s no problems with kids getting rashes from too much chlorine in the pool and big savings on chemicals.”
Jeff points out that the energy efficient pump that Steve & Donna Allery installed in their pool also saves money over time in running costs. “The pump costs just two and a half to three cents per hour to run on low speed. It’s definitely the way of the future and pays for itself within two years in energy savings.”
“We’re so happy we went with the Compass pool,” says Donna. “It’s fantastic and the kids are in it every day. When it’s too hot to exercise I can just jump in the pool and do laps now. It’s been a great investment.”
